Shaman Alternative is the Official Website of Brendan Hancock who is a Hunter Valley based writer, filmmaker and graphic designer. He is probably better known for his past work on the life of Australian Rock and Roll Icon Johnny O’Keefe through articles and websites which he has been doing since 1995.
 

As a Designer and Artist, Brendan’s work has primarily been DVD Cover & Poster Art and includes titles such as PORKY’S REVENGE, THE TRINITY COLLECTION and THE FASTEST GUN. His design work has also been featured in company logos such as EXPOSE PROFESSIONAL MAKE-UP ARTISTRY and DVD MOVIE HOUSE. An Exhibition of around 30 of his artworks were featured in a limited Newcastle University Exhibition on campus with other Art Students back in 1999 in which he received positive reviews from both his peers and heads of faculty.

As a filmmaker, Brendan will be the first to admit he’s still got a lot to learn, but loves the idea of telling a story. He has so far produced, written and directed over 10 short films and has written 3 feature film screenplays. He has written articles for printed publications as well as the internet. His regular online blogs and articles as seen on www.myspace.com and www.wordpress.com have a growing number of subscribers and regular readers and continue to influence others through commentaries and forums.

In 2007 his writing has taken preference over everything else and this year he took on his biggest endeavour to date by deciding to release his first printed book, entitled Interpreted Wisdom: Collected Writings 2006 – 2007. The book features a collection of blogs and other short writings on various subjects over a 12 month period. The book contains both classic pieces that have already been seen online but also material that was deemed inappropriate at the time of writing.

As the book began to take shape, he realised a need for others to express themselves and decided to create the official interpreted wisdom site www.interpretedwisdom.com which allows anyone to upload their own story or wisdom for others to share. Although already online, the site will be officially launched in December 2007

The Book Interpreted Wisdom is scheduled to be released in December 2007 and will be available to buy through Macdonald Booksellers in Maitland for $14.95

A proposed photo / art exhibition for 2008 in his home town of Maitland NSW is in development and will continue with the INTERPRETED WISDOM theme.

Brendan lives in Maitland NSW, has 4 kids ( 14 - 3 ) and no dogs. He still works in Maitland's CBD and is always looking for someone to tell him a great new story. When writing he feels there's nothing better than some Joshua Kadison or The Whitlams playing in the CD player to get the keyboard tapping, or Magnolia or Clerks in the DVD player to get influenced and in a more creative mood.
